Langverwacht Winery
Established as Boesmansrivier Wine Cellar in 1954, the cellar received its first crop in 1956. The name, unfortunately, created some confusion, as the region also housed a Boesmansrivier Cheese Factory, and so the winery was named Langverwacht, for the farm on which the cellar was built.
With warm summers’ days and a south eastern ocean breeze that cools down the evenings, Langverwacht grows vines in sandy soil, rich lime soil, and red clay soil. The result is easy-drinking, fruit-driven wines that express the character of the cultivars.
Located near Bonnievale, Langverwacht has received Michelangelo and Veritas awards.
The cellar now receives more than 13 000 tons of grapes per annum, of which 85% is white grapes.
Johan Gerber is the 4th winemaker for Langverwacht Wines and has been the winemaker and manager for 34 years. He loves” turning nature into art” and have produced excellent, prize winning wines for years. Theunis Botha joined the team in 2005 as new assistant winemaker.
Langverwacht is well known for it’s Chardonnay’s, Colombars and Shiraz. It’s open from Monday to Friday for wine tastings. So come visit and taste excellent wines in our new tastingroom.
