Langverwacht Wines, Since 1954

FAMILY, FRIENDS & WINE

Langverwacht Cellar, nestled in Bonnievale along the Stormsvlei road, has a rich history dating back to 1956. Originally named Boesmansrivier Wine Cellar, it was later renamed to avoid confusion with the nearby Boesmansrivier Cheese Factory. The new name, Langverwacht, was taken from the farm on which the cellar was built.

Each year, the cellar processes around 13,000 tons of grapes, with 85% dedicated to white cultivars such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, and Colombar. On the red wine side, Pinotage, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Ruby Cabernet are the primary varieties. To ensure top-quality production, Langverwacht continuously invests in modern winemaking technology.

Known for its exceptional wines, Langverwacht takes pride in its flagship selections: the 4 Barrel Shiraz and Calcrete Chardonnay. These wines reflect the region’s ideal climate and soil, with only the finest grapes selected for bottling. While the majority of production is sold in bulk, a selection of wines is available for purchase at the cellar and a few local wine shops. Langverwacht’s philosophy is simple—offering high-quality wines at affordable prices for everyday enjoyment.

With just 13 main members, the winery fosters a close, almost family-like bond between producers and winemakers. A visit to Langverwacht Cellar for a tasting is an experience not to be missed!
